By using John F. Barnes' myofascial release (MFR) to treat the restrictions of this complex area and treating the whole body, we have great success relieving shoulder pain. So, whether from a sports, throwing or lifting injury or poor posture, Myofascial Release Therapy treatments will allow you to move again, and do the things you want to do.
Before working as a myofascial release massage therapist in the physical therapy field, I had no idea how many people were walking around with shoulder pain and decreased range of motion in their shoulders. Now I find myself working on just as many shoulders as I do backs and necks.
The shoulder is a ball-and-socket joint and therefore VERY mobile, and with great mobility comes the potential for great instability and dysfunction. If we sit in front of a computer all day, slouch our shoulders, and never work out our backs and the backs of our shoulders, we are asking for trouble! This is a big part of the reason so many of us have shoulder pain.
What can go wrong with the shoulder?
Lifting, throwing, pulling and just about any other activity involving your hands and arms requires shoulder mobility. We've all seen characters in movies and TV shows rotating their shoulders to indicate they feel overwhelmed, stressed or exhausted. It's such a common occurrence that many people don't even realize they're doing the same thing themselves when getting up from their desk, or taking off their shirt at night. Shoulder pain is so frequent that almost everyone thinks it's a necessary burden.
No matter what causes the stiffness or soreness, myofascial release treatments is an effective way address your Shoulder Pain and Stiffness and increasing your range of motion.
